If Rory and Lorelai Gilmore moved to the ADK, Pitkin's would undoubtedly be a favorite haunt. Luckily, you don’t have to be a “Gilmore Girls” aficionado to appreciate Pitkin’s Restaurant in downtown Schroon Lake.
Established in 1907, Pitkin’s has fed the Schroon Lake community and Adirondack visitors delicious, comforting, homemade breakfasts, lunches, and dinners for over 100 years.

Begin your day with Pitkin’s time-honored specialties like sausage biscuits and gravy, hot-off-the-griddle options of the pancake and french toast variety, a whole variety of egg dishes and sandwiches, and even something called a “Good” Morning Bowl with yogurt, fresh fruit, granola and honey (what’s good about that?).
During a recent lunch visit, we feasted on the patty melt (with curly fries, of course) and fish and chips, but options abound from a large selection of salads (not very Gilmore-like, actually), burgers, wraps, traditional sandwiches, and panini, and classics like the hot turkey sandwich. We are suckers for a great pun, so we need to get back soon for the “Schrooner or Later” hand-breaded fried chicken sandwich. And our Uncle Ed went nuts for the pulled pork sandwich.
The same menu is served at dinner, with entrees like chicken schnitzel, turkey dinner (with stuffing and mashed potatoes), homestyle meatloaf, and smoked brisket mac n’ cheese. That’s some good cooking.
Don’t miss the homemade pies and desserts. Recently renovated, it has a great rustic modern feel. You’ll feel right at home.
