Paradox Lake Campground in the Adirondacks

There’s nothing contradictory about it; this place is truly beautiful.

Canoe on Paradox Lake

This lovely campground is nestled between the northern tip of Schroon Lake and the southern end of Lake Champlain, close to Dark Bay on Paradox Lake.

Paradox Lake Campground has close to 60 campsites and offers guests fishing, paddling and hiking opportunities. Campers can access hot showers, flush toilets, a trailer dump station, a recycling center, a boat launch site, a picnic area with pavilion rental, and canoe and boat rentals.

Canoers game for a short portage will be delighted by the trail network to Crane, Oxshoe, Crab, Putnam and Horseshoe Ponds. Paradox Lake Campground is also near the Pharaoh Lake Wilderness, where there are over 70 miles of trails, 38 primitive tent sites and 14 lean-tos available in the wilderness.

Boat and canoe rentals are available for exploring the lake by water. A large day-use picnic area has many tables, grills, and a covered pavilion near the beach. A drive-in boat launch is near the booth at the entrance to the campground.

Nearby indoor and outdoor activities abound. The historic Fort Ticonderoga and Mount Defiance (technically, a hill, but no one’s quibbling) are less than 30 minutes away. Ticonderoga offers many diversions, including The Star Trek Original Set Tour, restaurants and shops. In the opposite direction, the village of Schroon Lake is just 10 minutes from the campground with one of our favorite shops, Pinecone Mercantile, coffee shops, and several restaurants.
Visit the Paradox Lake Campground website for a virtual tour of the campground, get more information about available facilities and reserve your site.
