Culinary Magic at Morgan & Co. in Glens Falls, NY
Great food in a historic setting in the southern Adirondacks.
Morgan & Co. restaurant is a delightful blend of culinary excellence and historical charm. Located in a beautifully restored building dating back to the late 19th century, it seamlessly combines its rich history with a modern dining experience that delights locals and visitors alike.
A culinary destination in a historic and elegant setting.
Morgan & Co. sits majestically on the corner of Ridge and Maple in the heart of downtown Glens Falls, in the former McEchron House. Initially constructed in 1891, the McEchron House is a two-and-a-half-story Queen Anne and Romanesque Revival masterpiece. Less than 100 years later, the house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
In 2013, the building underwent a meticulous restoration that preserved its historic character while transforming it into a premier dining destination.
Today, Morgan & Co. retains much of its original gorgeous character, with elegant interiors that evoke a sense of nostalgia for a bygone era.
Fresh and inventive cuisine.
Morgan & Co. restaurant is renowned for its diverse and inventive menu that celebrates local ingredients and global culinary influences. The cuisine can be described as contemporary American with a creative twist, offering a range of dishes that appeal to every palate.
Appetizers tempt diners with options like Crispy Calamari served with a zesty aioli (we loved it) or Moroccan Cigars, lamb and beef spring rolls, with Morgan & Co’s house-made harissa.
The restaurant boasts an array of entree choices that highlight the chef’s commitment to quality and creativity. Diners can indulge in the Brisket Bowl, which features slow-roasted brisket, sticky rice, scallions, grilled carrots, and sesame vinaigrette. The excellent Seafood Bouillabaisse contains shrimp, mussels, calamari, and simmered fish in a tomato–saffron broth. Or try the yummy Chicken Piccata Meatballs with creamy spinach, orecchiette (the darling ear-shaped pasta), lemon, and capers. The grass-fed beef options include a Chateaubriand for Two, NY Strip, and Filet Mignon.
For more casual fare, try one of their dinner salads paired with chicken kebabs, steak, or seafood. Or choose one of the inventive sandwiches on the menu. The Shrimp Po Boy was the best we’ve had outside New Orleans. And there is a menu for Lil’ ADKers, too.
The restaurant also offers daily specials, seasonal events like crab and lobster fests, and special holiday menus for St. Patrick's Day, Passover, Mardi Gras, Easter and others.
In the kitchen: a seasoned team of chefs with local ties.
Behind Morgan & Co.'s success are the husband-and-wife team Rebecca Newell-Butters and Steve Butters, both culinary professionals with extensive experience in the restaurant industry. They envisioned a dining establishment showcasing their food passion and honoring Glens Falls’ historic legacy.
Rebecca Newell-Butters, a Glens Falls native, brings a wealth of expertise to the kitchen, having trained under renowned chefs and honed her skills in various culinary capitals. In 2009, Rebecca won the Food Network’s reality show Chopped. Her commitment to using locally sourced ingredients ensures that every dish at Morgan & Co. is delicious and supports the community’s farmers and producers.
Born south of Boston in Norwood, Massachusetts, Steve Butter started cooking at a young age, working summer jobs on Cape Cod. He attended the famous Cambridge School of Culinary Arts and dove head first into Boston’s culinary scene, where he and Rebecca met. The two then went on to run separate Aquitaine restaurants in downtown Boston and Chestnut Hill.
Rebecca and Steve have created a dining experience at Morgan & Co. that goes beyond great food. They have crafted a place where history meets innovation, where diners can savor memorable meals while surrounded by the echoes of a storied past.
