Where in the ADK? Anne LaBastille’s Cabin

Visit the Adirondack Experience - The Museum on Blue Mountain Lake to see the famed author’s cabin.

Today’s “Where in the ADK?” is actually a place within a place: acclaimed Adirondack writer and conservationist Anne LaBastille’s cabin, which is now a permanent exhibit at The Adirondack Experience on Blue Mountain Lake.

In 2015, four years after LaBastille’s death, her remote cabin was carefully dismantled and relocated to the museum on Blue Mountain Lake. Preservationists worked tirelessly to rebuild the cabin meticulously, exactly as it was on Twitchell Lake, where Anne lived and wrote.

Anne LaBastille was the author of “Woodswoman” and many other books that described her life in the Adirondacks. The cabin, which she built herself, is a testament to her grit and fortitude. She was a certified Adirondack guide, an ecologist and a professor.

If you can’t get to the Blue Mountain Lake to see the cabin for yourself (although you really should), check out this virtual tour below.
