Where in the ADK? Tupper Lake Lumberjack
What else do you expect to find at the Home of Lumberjacks?

This week’s “Where in the ADK?” comes from the town of Tupper Lake in the region of the Adirondacks, often referred to as Tri-Lakes (with Saranac and Lake Placid) and High Peaks. It’s the Tupper Lake lumberjack, who stands as a monument to local woodsmen (and we assume woodswomen, too).
This big wooden fella was first built in 1990 and has braved the ofttimes harsh elements of ADK weather and even an arson attack. He gets regular paint jobs to keep him looking fresh while maintaining the authentic and rugged look of a true Adirondack woodsman. You can find him on the shores of Raquette Pond at the beautiful municipal park on Demars Boulevard in the town of Tupper Lake.
Tupper Lake has a long and storied history as an iconic logging town and has a proud timber-tough heritage. Founded as a logging town around 1845, it rose to world record heights thanks to its booming lumber industry at the turn of the 20th century.
Though not operating at that scale today, Tupper Lake still celebrates its heritage as "Home of the Lumberjacks" - from school mascots and annual summer festivals all-embracing iconic "Home of the Lumberjacks" identity.
