Lake House at High Peaks Resort is one of three hotels that make up the High Peaks Resort situated on Mirror Lake in the town of Lake Placid.

All three resorts share amenities like indoor and outdoor pools, on-site restaurants, a full-service day spa, and a waterfront beach featuring all the watersports.

Lake House is a completely overhauled 1960s motor inn. Architectural Digest featured the hotel as one of the most beautiful in the ADK. According to AD, the designers were careful to keep the cool mid-century vibe, “fusing vintage spirit with modern vigor in downtown Lake Placid. Interiors, warmed with light woods and a playful palette of bright red window frames and fixtures, pop with patterned throws and roaring fireplaces.” So, it’s got that going for it.

Each of the hotel’s 44 rooms is named after one of the high peaks and comes with:

  • Patio or balcony to enjoy the spectacular views

  • Flat-screen TVs with cable and LodgeNet for video game and movie rentals

  • Sumptuous bedding

  • Full bath and shower

  • Complimentary Wi-Fi

  • Pet-friendly policies

All of the properties that make up the High Peaks Resort have full access to:

  • Indoor and outdoor pools

  • Hot tub

  • Lakefront water sports and equipment, including kayaks, rowboats, stand-up paddleboards and paddleboats

  • A full-service gym and fitness center with an array of cardio and weight equipment.

  • Access to winter sports equipment, including skis, skates and snowshoes. Fees may apply.

Perhaps best of all, the resort puts guests at the epicenter of the ADK’s greatest assets. Charming Lake Placid is right outside your hotel room. Diverse shopping, dining, and drinking establishments provide the opportunity to kick back and relax.

Nearby attractions include:

  • Restaurants, shops and cafes close by.

  • The Olympic Center, home of the 1980 Olympics and future site of the 2023 World University Games, the largest multi-sport winter event in the world, after the Olympics.

  • The Wild Center in Tupper Lake is designed to immerse visitors in the natural world of the ADK to enhance our understanding of it better.

  • Skiing at Whiteface Mountain. Within just a half-hour drive, Whiteface boasts the greatest vertical drop east of the Rockies and is recognized as one of the Northeast’s best ski resorts.

If you’re looking to create some outdoor adventures, the tri-lakes and high peaks region offers magnificent hiking, backpacking, nordic skiing, snowshoeing, and paddling. The experts at the Adirondack Mountain Club can give you excellent advice on where to go.

If you’re looking for a comfortable and stylish base camp for your next ADK adventure, Lake House at High Peaks Resort is a superb option.
