High Falls Gorge is a stunning section of the Ausable River located near Whiteface Mountain in Wilmington, NY, less than 15 minutes from Lake Placid.
The Gorge is within a privately owned nature park spanning 22 acres. Visitors can embark on a 60- to 90-minute stroll along smooth trails, sturdy metal bridges, and a glass platform, offering an up-close encounter with the mighty river and its four magnificent waterfalls.

One of the many great features of this site is that it’s open year-round. The summer season is May to October, and the winter season is November to April. The staff outfits intrepid winter hikers with special footwear to prevent slipping on any ice on trail ways.
