Hickory Ski Center announced they are ready to re-open with lifts operating on Saturday, January 20, 2024. Their statement said: “The insurance is in place thanks to the generous donations of skiers, organizations, donors, and purchasers of passes and swag from across the US. In particular, we thank Unofficial Networks and IndyPass for their willingness to support small mountains like ours to stay alive and thrive.”

At the time of their announcement, Hickory specified that the T-Bar and Poma 1 would be spinning and that Poma 2 was still tentative. The upper Mountain served by Poma 1 is tentative based on current snow cover; however, several more inches of snow are expected in the region this week, hopefully adding to the current base.

Public operating hours for opening weekend.

Hickory announced that public operating hours will be from 10 am to 4 pm for opening weekend. IndyPass and Hickory All Mountain Season pass holders have first-track privileges from 9-10 am.

Visit Hickory’s website to purchase day lift tickets and season passes. Tickets are also available on-site at their ticket counter.

In the coming days, they will determine the weekday schedule, which depends on the availability of ski patrol personnel. Three Sisters Café will be open during operating hours.

Be part of a historic Adirondack ski center.

The management at Hickory is looking for additional ski patrollers and lift attendants. Filling these roles is critical to the Ski Center being able to open with a full operating schedule. If you’re interested in being part of the HIckory crew, e-mail hickorysc2@gmail.com.

Hickory was established in 1946 by veterans of the 10th Mountain Division, a light infantry division in the US Army stationed at Fort Drum, New York. This division was the only one of its size in the US military to receive specialized training for fighting in mountainous conditions. During World War II, the division fought in the mountains of Italy, facing some of the toughest terrain of the war.

Hickory Ski Center was first well-known among ski clubs in the Albany area and locals from Warrensburg. As time passed, the ski resort became renowned for its excellent combination of family-friendly and advanced skiing, similar to the legendary Mad River Glen in Vermont. Hickory's extensive glades, challenging terrain, and gentle learning zones still make it a popular destination for skiers of all levels in New York State.

Skiers from all over love the Mountain not only for its unique terrain and incredible views but also for its laid-back atmosphere and tight-knit community. The resort is run by a board of passionate locals who share a deep commitment to preserving ski history. Their dedication is evident in every aspect of the resort, from the well-maintained trails to the cozy lodge. Whether you're an experienced skier or a beginner, you're sure to feel at home at the Mountain.
