2025 Swix Loppet at Mt. Van Hoevenberg in Lake Placid

Mt. Van Hoevenberg in Lake Placid hosts the annual celebration of cross-country skiing known as the Loppet, sponsored by Swix, a Norwegian company that makes winter sports equipment, including ski wax, ski poles, and sportswear. Swix is a major player in alpine and cross-country ski racing.

The 50 km Loppet and 25 km Kort Loppet race course will consist of a 25 km loop that traverses through every corner of Mount Van Hoevenberg on the 1980 Olympic Legacy Trails.
This is one of the most demanding Loppet courses in the world using many of the challenging climbs and descents from the 50 km race in the 1980 Olympic Games. If you are new to skiing or looking for a fast cruise, the 3, 7.5, and 12 km courses will traverse much less hilly terrain.

Bibs will be available for pick-up in the Mountain Pass Lodge on Saturday, February 22, from 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday, February 23, from 7 to 11 am.

What’s a Loppet?
According to Cross Country Canada, a loppet can be defined as “a great gathering of skiers who ski on a specifically groomed trail either classic (diagonal stride) or free (skating technique) of various distances. Enormous amounts of food and drink are consumed during (and after) the event. Usually, there’s an after-party and celebratory banquet with awards and prizes.”
The Lake Placid Loppet is no different. There will be activities for spectators beginning at 9 am in the Mountain Pass Lodge at Mt. Van Hoevenberg.
A barbecue lunch will begin at 1 pm and awards at 2 pm. Lunch is included with the race entry. Additional tickets for friends and family can be purchased online or in person.
All Loppet racers will have 30% off Swix Retail during the day when their bib is presented.
