Immerse yourself in the soothing embrace of the outdoors with Sensory Snowshoeing, an enchanting self-care experience deeply inspired by the restorative art of Forest Bathing.

This serene activity takes place at Dewey Mountain Recreation Center in Saranac Lake. It encourages participants to wander through pristine snowy landscapes, engaging all their senses to absorb nature's beauty fully.

As you stroll over glistening, powdery snow under a vast sky, you'll discover the gentle crunch beneath your snowshoes, the crisp, refreshing air filling your lungs, and the sight of delicate frost-kissed trees surrounding you.

Sensory snowshoeing 101.

Participants will be introduced to a unique winter outdoor self-care practice during this event. They can expect:

  • Gentle activity on easy terrain (all levels welcome)

  • Focus on sensory exploration, relaxation, and community connection

  • Snowshoe or microspike rentals available (suggested donation: $5 per session)

  • The event takes place in all conditions: snow, rain, or shine

  • In bad weather, indoor nature sensory activities are followed by wild evergreen needle tea
