In the Center of quaint Saranac Lake Village is the unique and enchanting world of the Adirondack Carousel. Open year-round, it symbolizes artistic craftsmanship and community spirit to weave a narrative transcending time, captivating the hearts of locals and visitors alike.

The Adirondack Carousel had its genesis in the early 2000s when a group of passionate Saranac Lake residents envisioned a project that would be a source of joy and family fun and celebrate the region's rich artistic heritage. With this vision in mind, the community rallied together, determined to create a carousel to stand out as a symbol of unity and creative expression.
Today, the Carousel features 24 handcrafted wildlife animals (18 of which are displayed at one time), and a wheelchair-accessible chariot (a Chris Craft boat) grace the attraction.
Local artists hand-painted decorative panels and medallions at the top of the Carousel with area scenes and local flora; a local blacksmith forged the weather vane that sits atop the central cupola, and a local carpenter built the ticket counter. Countless volunteers painted and stained the building inside and out.

They came together to infuse the carousel with a unique Adirondack flavor, incorporating elements inspired by the region's flora, fauna, and folklore.
The carousel's stunning centerpiece is a menagerie of hand-carved animals meticulously crafted by skilled artisans. Bears, loons, trout, beavers and other iconic Adirondack creatures come to life as beautifully carved wooden figures. Even that ADK scourge, the Black Fly, is represented.
Each animal tells a story, paying homage to the natural wonders surrounding Saranac Lake and the community's deep-rooted connection with its environment.
The Adirondack Carousel project also took a sustainable approach to its creation. The artisans utilized locally sourced materials, embracing the essence of the Adirondack region and minimizing their ecological footprint. This commitment to sustainability reflects the community's environmental consciousness and adds another layer of authenticity to the carousel's narrative.

In 2012, the Adirondack Carousel opened its doors to the public, unveiling a whimsical world of color, music, and creativity.
