Musician Rob Schwimmer to Appear in Saranac, NY
A unique opportunity to see soloist Rob Schwimmer perform on piano, theremin, and Haken Continuum in the Adirondacks.
Rob Schwimmer is a composer-pianist, thereminist, vocalist and Continuum player who has performed and recorded worldwide. His compositions have been featured in theater, television, documentaries and feature films. The New York Times described his performances as “virtuosity, magic, humor,” and Keyboard Magazine described his work as “exquisitely beautiful music, worthy of deep listening.”
Schwimmer is a talented musician who performs as a soloist. He creates a unique sound using his virtuosity on three instruments - the piano, the theremin (an electronic musical instrument controlled without physical contact by the performer), and the Haken Continuum Fingerboard. Schwimmer is considered one of the world's masters on the theremin and the Haken Continuum. The latter instrument is a significant advancement in electronic devices with an expressiveness similar to the theremin but with the added benefits of polyphony and harmony.
In his performances, Schwimmer plays all three instruments, creating a rarely heard combination that takes the audience to beautiful and mysterious sonic territories. His music invokes new emotions and rekindles forgotten feelings in the audience.
Watch Rob Schwimmer perform In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning on piano; Mussorgsky’s Elegy on theremin; Five Psychedelic Pieces by Alexander Scriabin on Haken Continuum; and Eric Clapton’s Steppin’ Out also on Haken Continuum.
