The Phil Edwards Annual Memorial Hockey Tournament in Tupper Lake

Honoring a community leader and supporting youth hockey in the Adirondacks.

Start the new year by attending one of the fastest-growing hockey tournaments in the Adirondacks at the Tupper Lake Memorial Civic Center located on Santa Clara Avenue in Tupper Lake.

The Phil Edwards Memorial Hockey Tournament is an adult-level hockey competition. The event spans an entire weekend filled with exciting hockey matches and features teams from various regions competing for the Phil Edwards Trophy and bragging rights.

The event is a tribute to one of the most prominent supporters of Tupper Lake hockey, an expert carpenter and contractor who spent thousands of hours constructing the Tupper Lake Arena over several years.

Phil worked hard to build the arena, which eventually became the property of the Town of Tupper Lake and the Tupper Lake Central School District. With their ownership came upgrades worth thousands of dollars, including the addition of artificial ice-making, the installation of new locker rooms with showers, and improved heating for the spectator area.

The massive community room that overlooks the ice sheet was also completed. Today, it is widely regarded as one of the top arenas in the North Country.

A raffle table will be set up throughout the weekend, with many items available to win. All proceeds from the event go to the Tupper Lake Youth Hockey Association and The Phil Edwards Scholarship. To sign up to volunteer or make a donation, email tlpeht@yahoo.com and check out the tournament's Facebook page for ongoing updates

As of December 2, the tournament is full. However, spectator admission is free. This is an excellent opportunity to cheer on competing teams and support a great cause.
