The Place Restaurant in Chestertown
Locals love The Place for Classic Italian-American Cuisine.
The Place is a long-time favorite for the locals in the Gore Mountain area of the ADK. The casual rustic dining room is usually packed on weekends, and it sometimes seems everyone there is family. I’m always amazed when I post on social media that we are dining at The Place how many of my friends from near and far reply or comment about their fond memories of this place outside of Chestertown and a meatball’s throw from Loon Lake.
Diners can customize their pasta dish, choosing between angel hair, penne, linguini, ziti, or fettucini, and top it with marinara, alfredo, oil and garlic, alla vodka or meat sauce. Then top with shrimp, sausage, chicken or a variety of meatballs.
The Place makes delicious parmigiana -- veal, chicken, eggplant and our favorite: eggplant and veal parm together. Other traditional entrees include veal marsala, New York Strip on garlic toast, shrimp scampi and Zuppa di clams.
Lil ADKers have a special menu featuring pizza, pasta, and that perennial favorite of Leonard Da Vinci, Tenero Pollo (chicken tenders).
Friendly and efficient service, a full bar and Italian wines by the glass, carafe and bottle round out The Place’s appealing features.
Open year-round, The Place’s business hours change seasonally, so be sure to call ahead or check out their Facebook page to find out when they are open.
