Indian Lake Theater
A hometown theater in the Central Adirondacks.
In the “good old days,” the local movie theater could satisfy the needs of the average cinephile in the Adirondacks.
Over time, however, the hometown movie theater began to disappear, and ADKers had to travel up to an hour or more to catch the latest Hollywood release.
That’s why we’re thankful places like Indian Lake Theater are preserved for those of us who love enjoying our movies in an authentic movie palace.
According to various articles, the Indian Lake Theater was established in 1937, making it over 85 years old. However, in 2006, the theater seemed doomed to cease to exist. Thankfully, the Indian Lake community banded together to save this historic movie house, and today we are thankful for their efforts.
In addition to playing first-run movies, the theater offers a gathering space for entertainment, music and performances that enriches the cultural life of the Central Adirondacks.
