Weekend Events, June 23-25, 2023

Notable events in the Adirondacks this weekend.

Summer officially arrived on June 21, and the ADK is just starting to heat up with the season’s best activities.

Each week, we compile a list of special events and happenings you don’t want to miss.

Strawberry Festival, Warrensburgh, June 23

The Warrensburgh Farmers’ Market turns 25 in 2023, and all season long, they are celebrating. This week it’s the inaugural Strawberry Festival which will be held alongside the weekly Farmers’ Market on River Street from 3 pm to 6 pm.

It’s berry season, people. You don’t want to miss out on locally grown and freshly picked strawberries. But the Strawberry Festival is more than just berries.

Go for the variety of strawberry products from local farms, bakers, brewers, distilleries and food artisans, like the good people at Nettle Meadow Farm, who will feature their hand-crafted cheese products with a strawberry influence.

There will be crafts, small-batch and hand-poured soy candle making, games and activities for Lil’ ADKers, and tips on cultivating your berry patch. Plus free coffee in the Gazebo. I mean, what are you waiting for??

Canoe to Brew, Middle Saranac Lake to Second Pond, June 23

Celebrate Paddling hosts another outing in their guided paddle series, Canoe to Brew, around the Saranac Lake area on Friday evenings, followed by refreshments at a local brewery.

What better way to unwind on a Friday and take advantage of the longest daylight hours each year?

This week’s paddle is a thrilling tour from Middle Saranac Lake to Second Pond. Post-paddle, the group will assemble at Ray Brook Brewhouse.

Tupper Lake Tinman Triathlon, Tupper Lake, June 24

Hundreds of racers are expected to participate in the 2023 Tupper Lake Tinman Triathlon, which kicks off in Municipal Park. This event is one of the oldest triathlon competitions in America.

What started in 1983 as a race with 68 competitors has grown more than 7X and now draws competitors from across the US.

Adirondack Food and Wine Festival, Lake George, June 24-25

Here’s your chance to enjoy New York State’s finest food, wine, beer and spirits producers all in one place at the Charles R. Wood Festival Commons in Lake George Village, adjacent to Million Dollar Beach.

Adirondack Food & Wine Festival attendees will enjoy a wide variety of NY-made wines, craft beverages, artisan foods, and cooking demonstrations from top area chefs.

The Festival brings more than just food and beverages to the community; Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Southern Adirondacks is the Festival’s designated beneficiary. The event also injects money into the region (in 2022, the Festival is estimated to have provided $4.1 million in positive economic impact). So do your part and get out there and enjoy the Festival.

Frequent your local farmers’ market.

Earlier this week, we published the 2023 Adirondack Farmers’ Market Calendar, which provides info on the more than 70 local farmers’ markets in the ADK. More than half of these markets take place on the weekend. We love grabbing a cup of coffee and perusing our local farmers’ market on a weekend morning.

And that’s the round-up for this weekend. Be sure to check out our events calendar for upcoming special activities in the ADK,
