Although spring has not officially arrived yet, winter sports centers in the Adirondacks are ready to declare it here.
The unsung heroes during this time are the groomers who work diligently through wild temperature swings to keep our ski mountains in excellent condition.
Their job is challenging, with daytime temperatures reaching the 40s and overnight lows dropping into the teens, but the intrepid groomers are out there every night laying down fresh corduroy.
For most Adirondack ski centers, it’s classic spring skiing protocol: Warm days followed by cold nights. The ski mountains harden up nicely, and the skiing is fast each morning.
When temperatures warm up in the afternoon, the snow and conditions get softer out there, making it easier for guests to dig their edges in and carve beautiful turns.
