Join the talented voice actors of Gem Radio Theatre for a unique production of "Sherlock Holmes: The Night Before Christmas" at Indian Lake Theater on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 7 PM, during SnoCade week. The Town of Indian Lake makes this free performance possible.
Set on Christmas Eve in 1886, the play unfolds at the home of Sherlock Holmes, the famous detective. His partner, Dr. Watson, dressed as Santa Claus, is preparing to give Christmas gifts to the niece and nephew of Mrs. Hudson, Sherlock Holmes’s housekeeper, as part of a specimemorableday celebration.
Dressed in a jolly Santa suit and with a sack full of gifts, Watson is off with Mrs. Hudson for the evening’s festivities.
An unexpected visitor disrupts Holmes’ evening.
No sooner do they leave when Holmes’ good friend Lord Widcombe drops by for a visit. The old friend is affluent and has decided to share some of his wealth through jewels and banknotes with his less fortunate relatives.
However, by some nefarious means, Holmes’ old nemesis Professor Moriarty has found out about Lord Widcombe’s act of generosity and has sent a blackmail note, stating that he disapproves of the luxurious gifts and, therefore, the wealthy friend should cough up 5,000 pounds…or else.
Holmes battles a familiar foe.
Of course, Holmes recognizes the note’s script as that of Moriarty and jumps at his friend's offer to infiltrate Widcombe’s Christmas party as Father Christmas so that Holmes might hopefully confront and capture Moriarty.
Before the audience knows it, Watson and Holmes are dressed as Santa Claus, and Moriarty is set to be the Grinch Who Tried to Steal Christmas.
The play is decidedly fun, with plenty of high jinks and grand adventure.
Admission to this special theatrical presentation is free, courtesy of The Town of Indian Lake. Doors open at 6 pm, and there will be a cash bar.
