IRONMAN Returns to Lake Placid

The ultimate athletic and endurance competition over 17 hours in the Adirondacks.

First, let’s put your fears at ease; registration is closed for this year’s competition. No one is suggesting you suit up and swim, run and bike for 17 hours. Phew, right?

There are plenty of ways to experience and enjoy this tremendous event. First, on Friday, July 21, there is the IRONKIDS event, which is a great way for young athletes (even toddlers!) to experience the excitement of competition while enjoying the outdoors.

Experience the thrill of a world-class athletic competition

As we said, registration is closed, but there will be plenty for spectators to see and do all weekend. Check out the spectator guide for more information. Also, volunteers are still needed, offering an excellent opportunity to be part of the action.

Spanning an impressive 17 hours, the race will immerse athletes in the beauty of the Adirondacks.

Nestled amidst the stunning Adirondack Mountains, Lake Placid has earned its reputation as a mecca for athletic events. Having hosted two Olympic Games, the community knows a thing or two about delivering world-class athletics while preserving a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere.

Big-time sports, small-town friendliness.

But it's not just the breathtaking scenery that makes Lake Placid a standout location for this prestigious event—the community's warm hospitality and the unwavering support of its residents play an integral role in making this event a success. As the athletes push themselves to achieve their goals, spectators lining the routes will be there every step of the way, cheering them on with unrivaled enthusiasm.

The streets will pulsate with electric energy that is unique to this event, leaving a lasting impression on everyone involved. Moreover, Lake Placid's commitment to creating a family-friendly atmosphere ensures this race is an all-inclusive experience. As athletes compete, families and friends can indulge in diverse community activities.

Can’t attend in person? There are many ways to follow the action via an app, streaming video and more.
