The Saranac Lake Winter Carnival has been a staple festival in the eastern United States since 1897. The carnival now spans ten fun-filled days and offers diverse activities, including winter sporting events and games, live music and performances, great food and drink, two parades, and three sets of breathtaking fireworks.
Despite its growth and popularity, the Winter Carnival has maintained the warmth, charm, and sense of community it was founded on. The Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Committee, an all-volunteer group, collaboratively organizes the festival and relies on the support of numerous sponsors and volunteers.
The festival's highlight is the stunning Ice Palace, constructed by volunteers opposite the state boat launch on the shore of Lake Flower's Pontiac Bay.
