Greetings! Welcome to another issue of the In Good Taste newsletter. We’re pleased to share our weekly dose of hand-selected Adirondack experiences, places to visit, insights and events. As we near mid-March, we recall the lessons from our high school English classes, particularly from William Shakespeare's play "Julius Caesar." In the play, a soothsayer warns Julius Caesar to "Beware the Ides of March," cautioning him about potential danger that awaits him on March 15th. However, in 2025 in the Adirondacks, we find many reasons to rejoice and embrace mid-March. First, as much as we love winter, it’s finally warming up. Second, one of our favorite springtime events is St. Patrick’s Day, when everyone is Irish. We bring you the best St. Patrick’s events across the Adirondacks to observe and enjoy this weekend. Third, mid-March also marks the beginning of Maple syrup or "sugaring season." This is the time of year when temperatures fluctuate between freezing at night and mild, warm days, causing maple tree sap to flow. It also brings tasty events like Thurman’s Maple Days. In springtime, we start anticipating the arrival of the incredible bounty from Adirondack farms and food producers. On this week's episode of the ADK Talks podcast, we had a great conversation with chef Spencer Coplan from the Deer’s Head Inn. He shares the joys of leading a four-season farm-to-table restaurant in the Adirondacks. Last week, we spotlighted the luxuries of past and present Great Camps. This week, we take a significant pivot and bring you the rustic charms of The Waldheim on Big Moose Lake. This resort offers guests an opportunity to disconnect and immerse themselves in the simple, exquisite pleasures of the Adirondacks. As we do in every issue, this week's newsletter features more great ideas and suggestions (if we do say so ourselves), including our recommendations for weekend events, our weekly ski and snow report, and other news updates. So, let’s get to it and dive into this week’s In Good Taste!
