U.S. Biathlon National Championships

  • Mount Van Hoevenberg NY, 12946 United States (map)

For what it’s worth, we think the biathlon is one of the most bad-ass of all Olympic events. First, participants have to ski their pants off as if their life depended on it. And then suddenly stop, drop and shoot at stuff with precision. For the sake of comparison, we are proud of ourselves if we can go from the fridge to the sink and flip a pancake on the griddle in between.

The 2022 Championships brings together the best junior and senior biathlon athletes and para-athletes in the United States, with more than 100 competitors expected. This is the first time since 1996 that these championships have been held at Mt Van Hoevenberg, after a huge overhaul of the venue over the last couple of years, including a new biathlon stadium featuring a 30-lane range, a high-efficiency snowmaking system with a reservoir, an additional 5 kilometers of competition trails certified to international standards, the recently constructed three-story Mountain Pass Lodge, and a competition layout designed for spectator viewing and access.

Oh, and by the way, all races are free (our favorite four-letter word) for spectators, so get your rear ends out to Mt. Van Hoevenberg and cheer on these amazing athletes.
