North Creek Ski Bowl’s 2024 Citizens XC Ski & Snowshoe Racing Kick-Off

Fun community race series commences January 10 at the North Creek Ski Bowl in the Adirondacks.

The North Creek Ski Bowl hosts a series of fun Nordic skiing and snowshoe racing in January and February. The races are held on the professionally groomed Stadium Course under the lights at the Ski Bowl.

Encouraging winter fitness in a fun environment.

The Citizen Series is an annual gathering that promotes winter fitness in a non-competitive environment, focusing on community involvement. Participants can win exciting prizes through raffle-style drawings and participating in the event.

The races are held on Wednesday evenings: January 10, 17, 24, 31, February 7, 14, 21, and 28 in 2024. Dates are subject to change due to weather and other variables. Check here for notifications.

Registration is inside the Joe Minder Lodge at the Ski Bowl beginning at 5 pm on each race day. Registration will close at 5:50 pm, and races begin at 6 pm with a mass start.

When registering, participants can choose to race (or walk) on snowshoes or can classic or skate ski. The distance options are 1.25K (1 Loop), 2.5K (2 Loops), 3.75K (3 Loops), and 5K (4 Loops) on the Ski Bowl’s professionally maintained and brightly lit stadium course.

These events are free for all ticketed guests and season pass holders. If you don't have a ticket or a season pass, you can still participate by paying a reduced twilight Nordic trail fee of $12, which includes registration.

The first races include a tribute to North Creek Ski Bowl creators.

The races will be held on Johnsburg and North Creek’s Pioneer Day and feature the unveiling of new Pioneer Plaques at 5 pm at the Joe Minder Lodge. These plaques serve as a tribute to the individuals who have played an instrumental role in the development of the North Creek Ski Bowl and the town of Johnsburg, and contributed to the thriving ski community it is today.

2024 also marks the 90th Anniversary of the Legendary Ski Trains that brought skiers from all over New York to North Creek and helped to drive the development of the Gore Mountain area as a winter destination. Learn more about this fascinating story.
