Visit the John Brown Farm State Historic Site in Lake Placid, NY to mark the 100th Anniversary of John Brown Day, when Black leaders from Philadelphia made their first pilgrimage to lay a wreath on Brown’s grave. Celebrate and honor the 2022 Spirit of John Brown Awardees:

  • Tiffany Rea-Fisher, Executive Artistic Director EMERGE125

John Brown, the ardent abolitionist, made his home on a simple farm in North Elba, NY, where he was buried following his execution for leading a raid on the federal armory at Harpers Ferry, Virginia, with the intent to start a slave liberation movement that would spread south.
