Celtic Musicians Hair of the Dog Perform Live in North Creek

Tannery Pond Center’s Coffeehouse Series continues with a lively performance on Sunday, March 24.

Live Celtic music featuring guitars and fiddles.

St. Patrick’s Day may be in the rearview mirror, but it’s always a great time to enjoy live Celtic music from talented and accomplished musicians.

Hair of the Dog has been together for at least 30 years. They have proven themselves to be a skillful and accomplished Celtic band performing in the northeast. The band has produced 10 CDs, including “Release The Hounds,” “Gaelic Bark,” “Collection,” “At The Parting Glass,” “Let It Flow,” “Donegal,” and “Liam Left The Lights On Again.”

In May 2012, The Irish Echo wrote, “‘Liam Left the Lights On Again’…in its entirety is simply a delight to listen to.” In January 2008, the Kingston, NY Freeman Times declared, “Hair Of The Dog plays with a cohesive oneness that most bands never get. They are a regional music treasure.”

Decades of accolades for “Hair of the Dog” across the Northeast.

The Dog, as they are known to a very loyal fan base, was mentioned in Billboard Magazine as one of Irish Music’s biggest sellers. Their song “One Sunday Morning” was featured on the 2003 Colleen Records compilation CD “Songs of Irish Freedom Vol. 3”.

Based in Upstate New York, the band members boast extensive resumes: Founder Rick Bedrosian has performed and recorded with Stevie Ray Vaughan, Marshall Crenshaw, Gene Clark of The Byrds, John Stewart of The Kingston Trio, Marshall Chapman, Blackhawk and the Outlaws.

The band’s fiddler, Larry Packer, was the lead guitarist of Sha Na Na and appeared with The Band in Martin Scorsese’s “The Last Waltz.”

On bass and vocals is Dan Samson, who studied at the esteemed Crane School of Music and played bass in numerous bands throughout New York’s Capital Region for more than 40 years. He most notably performed with New York State Blues Hall of Fame inductee Willie Pierce Blues Band and the Grammy-nominated Joey Thomas Big Band.

Drummer and vocalist Gene Garone has played with dozens of bands, including Doc Scanlon’s Rhythm Boys, Brass-O-Mania, Mother Goose Jazz Band, Joey Thomas Big Band, The Roasters, CD3, and Cole Broderick Quartet.
