A Farm Fantasy Run Amok: Cirque Alfonse Performs ANIMAL at Lake Placid Center for the Arts

Cirque Alfonse, composed of family members and friends, has performed together for almost 20 years. The Troupe’s founding members have all worked with some of the world's most renowned “nouveau cirque” companies. They will be at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts to spellbind audiences young and old with an irresistible combination of circus antics, lively music and song, dance and theater, all while celebrating Quebecers’ roots through contemporary works.

In ANIMAL, a gentleman farmer surrounds himself with familiar but crazy creatures: the hens have teeth, the ducks are very naughty, and the cows are getting restless. Alfonse wildly twists clichés, happily diverts morality, and seduces with lyricism and prowess. ANIMAL is a series of slightly surreal farm fables served up with a touch of irreverence, impressive virtuosity and the irreverent circus company’s familiar comic touch. A production for young and old alike, ANIMAL is the farm gone haywire.

According to their website, Cirque Alfonse was founded out of a desire for collaboration between family and friends, all while continuing the tradition of a traveling family circus. It consists of core artists Antoine Carabinier, Geneviève Gauthier, Julie Carabinier, and Alain Carabinier.
